The Chinese coronavirus outbreak has captured the attention of people world-wide. It is a story that impacts our healthcare systems, travel and international commerce. Recent news stories document how the disease and the lunar New Year holiday have drastically slowed the Chinese economy. One immediate effect is the delay of exports leaving Chinese port cities. Kanebridge has been receiving many questions from our customers about how this will ultimately affect our service level and the delivery schedule of any back-ordered items. We expect this will have minimal to no impact on our inventory levels or the delivery dates of parts we have on order. We can state this confidently because only 7% of our inventory was made in China.
Taiwan: 58%
U.S.A: 28%
China: 7%
Canada, Mexico, & Others: 7%
Distributors rely on Kanebridge to maintain on-hand inventory for over 99% of our items. To do so, we have cultivated multiple sources for most of our 43,000 items. While the scope of this health crisis is not yet known, neither are the long-term effects on the fastener market. However, Kanebridge’s distributors can continue to rely on inventory that is available from stock and ships the same-day.
